How DPS is Calculated

Sustained DPS Formula
Sustained DPS accounts for the reload penalty by considering the full fire-reload cycle:
Sustained DPS = (Base Damage × Magazine Size) ÷ (Magazine Size ÷ Fire Rate + Reload Time)
A weapon with 30 damage, 30-round mag, 10 RPS, and 2.1s reload: (30 × 30) ÷ (3.0 + 2.1) = 900 ÷ 5.1 ≈ 176.47 sustained DPS.
Effective DPS with Critical Hits
To factor in critical hits, multiply Sustained DPS by the expected damage modifier:
Effective DPS = Sustained DPS × [(1 - Crit%) + (Crit% × Crit Multiplier)]
With 5% crit chance and 1.5× multiplier: modifier = 0.95 + (0.05 × 1.5) = 1.025, adding 2.5% average damage.
Time-to-Kill (TTK)
TTK calculates how long it takes to eliminate a target with known HP:
- Shots to Kill: ceil(Target HP ÷ Damage per Shot)
- TTK: (Shots to Kill - 1) ÷ Fire Rate (if within one magazine)
- If multiple magazines are needed, add reload time for each full magazine consumed.
