The AI Paraphraser rewrites text in new words while keeping its meaning. Paste a sentence, a paragraph or a full essay, pick one of ten modes and how much to change, and every sentence comes back paraphrased, with two alternative versions you can swap in with a click. The page then measures the result for you: how much of the wording changed, the longest phrase still copied from the original, and whether every name and number survived.

What makes this paraphrasing tool different

• Three versions of every sentence. Most paraphrasers give you one answer and a Rephrase button that costs another run. Here each sentence already has two alternatives, so you can shape the paragraph sentence by sentence without spending anything.
• A copied-phrase check. Plagiarism checkers flag long runs of identical words. The page underlines any sentence that still keeps 6 or more words in a row from your original, so you can pick another version before you hand anything in.

How to paraphrase text

1. Paste your text, or upload a .txt, .docx or .pdf file.
2. Choose a mode and how much to change. Optionally list words to keep unchanged.
3. Click Paraphrase. The result appears sentence by sentence.
4. Click any sentence to see its alternatives and swap in the one you like. Underlined sentences still keep a long phrase from the original.
5. Check the Compare tab and the accuracy check, then copy or download the text.

Paraphrasing well

• Paraphrase ideas, not just words. Read the passage, understand the point, then compare the result against it. A good paraphrase could be understood without the original.
• Cite the source. Rewording a source does not make its ideas yours. Keep the author and year, e.g. (Smith, 2020).
• Keep quotations as quotations. If exact wording matters, quote it and cite it rather than paraphrasing it.
• Add your own voice. After paraphrasing, add one example or opinion of your own. It makes the text yours, and it is what readers and teachers value most.

Paraphrasing, summarizing and humanizing

Is the AI Paraphraser free?

Yes. Free runs cover up to 600 words, which is enough for most paragraphs and short essays, and every mode is available on the free plan. The built-in examples show a full result without using a run. For longer texts, up to 1,200 words at once, you can use AI credits or a plan.

Which mode should I choose?

Standard suits most texts. Fluency is for English that sounds non-native or awkward and changes as little as possible. Academic is for essays and papers, Formal for work writing, Casual and Simple for everyday readers, Creative and Persuasive for marketing, and Shorten or Expand when you need a different length.

Does paraphrasing avoid plagiarism?

Paraphrasing changes the wording, not the ownership of the ideas. If the ideas come from a source you still need to cite it, even in your own words. What the tool does help with is the wording itself: it flags any sentence that still keeps a run of 6 or more words from the original, which is the kind of overlap plagiarism checkers look for, so you can swap in another version.

Will the paraphrase keep my names, numbers and citations?

The paraphraser is told to keep names, numbers, dates, quotations, citations and technical terms exactly as written, and the page then checks the result: any name or number from your text that is missing in the paraphrase is listed so you can fix it. You can also list words that must never change, such as a brand name or a key term.

What are the sentence alternatives?

Every sentence of the paraphrase comes with one or two other ways to say it. Click a sentence to see them and click Use this to swap one in. Swapping happens in your browser, so it is instant and does not use another run.

Can I paraphrase text in other languages?

Yes. The paraphraser writes in the same language as your text and keeps its spelling variant, such as US or UK English. It never translates. The page is also available in 14 other languages.

Will paraphrased text pass an AI detector?

A paraphrase is written by an AI model, so detectors may still flag it. The tool avoids the phrases AI models overuse, but if you need text that reads as human-written, check it with our AI Content Detector and use the AI Text Humanizer, then add details only you know.
