What Are YouTube Play Button Awards?

YouTube recognizes creators who reach major subscriber milestones by awarding them physical Play Button trophies. These awards are a badge of honor in the creator community and represent different levels of channel growth:

Award Subscribers Material
🥈 Silver Play Button 100,000 Silver-plated metal plaque
🥇 Gold Play Button 1,000,000 Gold-plated metal plaque
💎 Diamond Play Button 10,000,000 Silver play button with large crystal
🔴 Ruby Play Button 50,000,000 Red crystal shaped like a play button
❤️🔥 Red Diamond Play Button 100,000,000 Custom trophy — only a handful exist worldwide

This tool automatically calculates which Play Button a channel has earned and shows progress toward the next milestone, making it easy to track channel growth at a glance.

Key YouTube Channel Metrics Explained

Subscriber Count

The total number of users who have subscribed to a channel. This is the most visible measure of a channel's audience size. YouTube may abbreviate subscriber counts for channels over 1,000 subscribers (e.g., showing "1.23M" instead of "1,234,567"). Some creators choose to hide their subscriber count.

Total Views

The cumulative number of times all videos on the channel have been watched. This is a lifetime metric that includes views from all videos since the channel was created. High total views relative to subscriber count can indicate strong content performance or viral videos.

Video Count

The total number of public videos uploaded to the channel. This includes regular uploads, Shorts, and live stream recordings that remain public. Deleted, unlisted, or private videos are not counted.

Average Views per Video

Calculated by dividing total views by total videos. This gives a rough measure of per-video performance. Note that this is a lifetime average — older channels with many videos may show lower averages because early videos often have fewer views, while a single viral video can skew the average upward.

Views per Subscriber

The ratio of total views to subscriber count. A higher ratio (e.g., 100x or more) often indicates that a channel's content reaches well beyond its subscriber base through search, recommendations, or viral sharing. A lower ratio (e.g., 5-10x) is common for newer or niche channels.

Frequently Asked Questions

What statistics can I see for a YouTube channel?

This tool shows real-time subscriber count, total lifetime views, total video count, average views per video, estimated daily views, views-per-subscriber ratio, channel creation date and age, country, and YouTube Play Button milestone progress. All data comes directly from the official YouTube Data API.

How do YouTube Play Button awards work?

YouTube awards creators with physical Play Button trophies when they reach subscriber milestones. Silver Play Button at 100K subscribers, Gold Play Button at 1M, Diamond Play Button at 10M, Ruby Play Button at 50M, and Red Diamond Play Button at 100M subscribers. This tool shows which milestone a channel has achieved and progress toward the next one.

What is the average views per video metric?

Average views per video is calculated by dividing a channel's total lifetime view count by the total number of public videos. It gives a rough measure of how much engagement each video receives on average. Note that this is a lifetime average and may be skewed by viral videos or older content.

Can I check statistics for any YouTube channel?

You can check statistics for any public YouTube channel. Some channels may hide their subscriber count, in which case the subscriber number will show as hidden while other stats remain visible. The tool accepts channel URLs, @handles, channel IDs, and custom URLs.

How often are YouTube channel statistics updated?

YouTube updates channel statistics in near real-time through its Data API. Subscriber counts may be abbreviated for channels with more than 1,000 subscribers. View counts and video counts are generally very current, though there can be a small delay of a few minutes during high-traffic periods.
