About Manga Translator

The Manga Translator lets you read manga, manhwa, manhua and comics in your own language. Upload the pages, choose a language, and every speech bubble, thought bubble and caption is translated and re-lettered inside the bubble, page after page.

How it works

  1. Finds the bubbles. Each bubble and caption is located and read, vertical Japanese text included, in the page's reading order (right to left for Japanese manga).
  2. Translates the dialogue into natural spoken language, keeping each character's tone, with the previous page's dialogue as context so names and voices stay consistent.
  3. Re-letters the page in your browser: the original text is cleaned out of each bubble and the translation set to follow the bubble's shape, in a comic font.

Tips

  • Use the cleanest, highest-resolution scans you have; small blurry text is hard to read for anyone.
  • Name files so they sort in reading order (001.jpg, 002.jpg…).
  • If a line doesn't fit a small bubble, shorten it in the list or lower the text size.

Standard result or AI redraw: what is the difference?

Every translation (1 credit) gives you the standard result: your browser erases the original text and sets the translation in its place. The AI redraw is an optional extra that rebuilds the whole picture with an image model. Below is the same example both ways, with the same translations: drag across it to compare.

Frequently asked questions

How do I translate a manga page?

Select one or more pages (JPG, PNG or WebP), choose your language and press Translate pages. Each page takes about 10 seconds; every speech bubble is translated and re-lettered in place, and the dialogue is listed next to the page so you can fix any line.

Can I translate a whole chapter?

Yes. Select up to 30 pages at once. They are translated in file-name order, and each page gets the dialogue of the page before it, so names and the way each character talks stay consistent. When it is done, download every page as a ZIP.

Does it work for manhwa, manhua, webtoons and Western comics?

Yes. Korean manhwa and webtoons, Chinese manhua and comics in any language are read in their own reading order. Very tall webtoon strips work best cut into pages.

Is it free?

Each page costs 1 credit, and every visitor gets 3 free AI credits a day, so three pages a day are free. A credit pack or a plan covers whole chapters: a 20-page chapter is 20 credits.

Can I translate a manga chapter saved as a PDF?

Yes. Add the PDF like any other page: each of its pages joins the list (up to 30 pages in total), in order, and is translated with the story so far as context, 1 credit per page. When the chapter is done you can download it as one translated PDF or as a ZIP of images.

Are sound effects translated?

Sound effects are detected and listed but left as drawn, because they are part of the artwork. Tick one in the list to replace it with its translation.

Can AI redraw a page in a real lettering style?

Yes. Under each translated page you can have AI redraw it for 50 credits (paid credits only, charged only if you get an image): an image model rebuilds the page with your edited dialogue in a hand-lettered style that matches the art. It is meant for a page you want to share or print; for reading a chapter, the standard lettering is all you need. The comparison above shows the same page both ways.

Can I change the font?

Yes. The default is a comic lettering font in ALL CAPS, as in English scanlations. You can switch to a plain or serif font, turn ALL CAPS off and make the text larger or smaller.

Are my pages stored?

No. Each page is sent once to be read and translated and is not kept. The lettering is done in your own browser.
