About Watermark Remover

The Watermark Remover takes a watermark, logo, caption, social handle or date stamp off a photo, at the photo's own resolution. Upload your photo and AI finds every mark that was added on top of it and highlights exactly its letters and shapes. Then erase it for free, right in your browser, or let AI rebuild what was behind it when the mark sits over furniture, a product or a face. Only the marked area changes: the rest of the picture keeps its original pixels.

Free erase or AI rebuild?

The watermarkBest choiceWhy
Text or a caption over sky, a wall, a floor or fabricFree erasePlain texture around the letters fills the gap invisibly
A social handle or signature in a cornerFree eraseSmall, and usually over background
An orange date stamp from a film cameraFree eraseThin digits over the edge of the picture
A logo across furniture, a product or a personAI rebuildSomething has to be drawn back in, not just smoothed over
Large "SAMPLE" or "PREVIEW" text across the subjectAI rebuildThe mark covers detail that can't be guessed from its edges
A pattern repeated across the whole pictureAI rebuildThe hardest case: check the result closely

The tool picks the best one for your photo and marks it, and you can always try the free erase first.

Tips for a clean result

  • Cover the whole mark. Shadows, outlines and glows around the letters are part of the watermark; leave them and you'll see a faint ghost.
  • Leave a little room. A brush stroke slightly wider than the letters blends better than a tight one.
  • Work in steps. Remove one mark, then paint the next one on the result and run it again.
  • Start from the best copy you have. A photo saved from social media is already compressed, and the compression blocks show around the removed area.
  • Download PNG if you'll edit the picture again: it keeps every pixel.

Your own photos only

Use the Watermark Remover on your own photos, or on photos you have the right to edit: a lost original you watermarked yourself, product shots your business owns, family photos with a date stamp, or a picture whose owner asked you to clean it up. Stock photo watermarks are refused: Shutterstock, Getty Images, iStock, Adobe Stock, Alamy, Dreamstime, 123RF, Depositphotos and other image libraries sell those photos, and the watermark is how they protect them. Removing someone else's watermark to use their work without permission can break copyright law.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove a watermark from a photo?

Upload the photo and press Find the watermark. The tool marks the watermark's letters or logo in red; paint over anything it missed. Then press Erase for free for text and small marks, or Rebuild with AI for logos and big marks, and download the result as PNG or JPG.

Is it free?

Finding the watermark costs 1 credit, which your 3 free daily AI credits cover. Erasing it for free runs in your browser and costs nothing, as often as you like. The AI rebuild creates new image content with a commercial image model, so it costs 50 credits and needs a plan or a credit pack; you're only charged if you get an image.

Should I use the free erase or the AI rebuild?

The tool tells you which suits your photo. The free erase is excellent for text, captions, social handles and date stamps over plain areas like sky, walls, floors or fabric. Over objects, such as a logo across a vase, a product or a face, it can only smear the surroundings in; the AI rebuild draws what was actually behind the mark, so the vase or product comes back whole.

What can it remove?

Text watermarks, logos, signatures, copyright lines, social media handles, captions, "sample" and "preview" marks, and the orange date stamps of old film cameras. A watermark repeated across the whole picture can be rebuilt with AI, but it is the hardest case: check the result closely.

Can I remove a Shutterstock, Getty Images or Adobe Stock watermark?

No. Those watermarks protect photos that are sold under license, and removing them to use the photo without paying is copyright infringement. The tool recognizes stock photo watermarks and won't edit those photos; you aren't charged. License the photo from its owner and you get a clean copy.

Is it legal to remove a watermark?

Removing a watermark from your own photo, or from one you have the right to edit, is fine: a photographer who lost the original file, a shop cleaning up its own product shots, or a family photo with a date stamp. Removing someone else's watermark to use their work without permission can break copyright law, which in many countries specifically protects the copyright information on a picture.

Will my photo lose quality?

No. Your photo stays at its own size, up to 4096 pixels on the long side, and only the marked area changes. Every other pixel is exactly as it was, and you can download the result as a lossless PNG.

It missed part of the watermark. What do I do?

Use the brush to paint over what's left, then run the removal again on the result. A shadow, outline or glow around the letters is part of the watermark too, so cover it with a little room to spare.

Can it remove AI watermarks?

Visible badges, yes. The star Gemini puts in the bottom-right corner of its pictures is found automatically and erased for free; other AI apps' corner badges are removed like any logo. Invisible AI watermarks, such as Google's SynthID, are inside the image itself; this tool doesn't touch them and doesn't hide that a picture was made with AI.

Is my photo saved?

No. The free erase runs entirely on your device. To find the watermark, a smaller copy of the photo is sent to an AI model, and for the AI rebuild only the area around the watermark; neither is stored or shared. The finished photo exists only in your browser until you download it.
