Check which Content Credentials and AI tags a photo carries, remove only those, and keep your camera details and copyright.
Runs in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.
Always kept: the picture itself, the color profile and the rotation, so nothing is re-compressed, recolored or turned sideways.
Metadata is only one sign. A file without it can still be made with AI, and some apps also hide an invisible watermark in the pixels, which this tool does not detect or remove.
About AI Metadata Remover
See what a photo or video says about how it was made, and remove the AI labels from it. The tool reads the Content Credentials (C2PA), IPTC AI tags, EXIF and XMP data, and AI prompts stored inside a file, tells you in plain words what they mean, and saves a copy without them. Your camera details, copyright and colors stay, and the picture is never re-compressed. Clean up to 50 files at once, right in your browser.
At a Glance
AI Metadata Remover shows whether a photo or video is labeled as made or edited with AI in its metadata, and saves a copy without those labels while keeping camera details, copyright and colors. Files are processed in your browser.
| Feature | What you get | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| AI label check | Each file shows Made with AI, Edited with AI tools, Content Credentials found or No AI metadata found, with the reasons and the tool it names. | Finding out why a post got an AI info label |
| What it reads | Content Credentials (C2PA), the IPTC AI tag, EXIF, XMP, IPTC, prompts saved by image generators, and video tags. | Seeing everything a file says about itself |
| What to remove | AI labels only, All metadata, or tick the kinds you want gone: location, camera, dates, software, author, captions. | Removing AI records but keeping copyright |
| Quality kept | The picture and video data are copied unchanged; the color profile and rotation are kept. | Cleaning photos without re-compressing them |
| Batch and check | Up to 50 files at once, and every cleaned file is read again to show what is left. | Cleaning a whole shoot or a set of posts |
| Formats and privacy | JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, MP4 and MOV; files never leave your browser. | Private photos and phone videos |
How to Remove AI Metadata
- Add your files. Choose or drop up to 50 photos or videos: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, MP4 or MOV.
- Read the check. Each file shows one of four results: Made with AI, Edited with AI tools, Content Credentials found or No AI metadata found, with the reasons and the tool it names.
- Pick what to remove. AI labels only is the default. All metadata also removes location, camera, dates and software. Choose lets you tick the kinds you want gone.
- Remove and download. Each cleaned file is read again to confirm what is left. Download files one by one, or the whole batch as a ZIP.
Where AI Labels Come From
An AI label is not part of the picture. It is a short record stored next to it, and there are three common kinds:
- Content Credentials (C2PA). A signed history that Adobe Firefly and Photoshop, ChatGPT, Google tools, Microsoft Designer and some phones and cameras attach. It names the app and lists actions such as created with a generative AI model.
- The IPTC DigitalSourceType tag. A single field in the XMP data. Trained algorithmic media means the whole picture was generated; composite with trained algorithmic media means a photo with AI-generated parts, which is what a Generative Fill edit writes.
- Prompts and tool names. Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI and similar apps save the prompt and settings in PNG text fields, and many apps write their name into the Software or Credit field.
Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok and LinkedIn read the first two to show labels such as AI info. That is why a real photo can be labeled after one small AI-assisted edit.
What Each Option Removes

| GPS location and place names | Kept | Removed |
| Camera, lens and serial numbers | Kept | Removed |
| Dates, software and edit history | Kept | Removed |
| Author, copyright and captions | Kept | Removed |
| Color profile and rotation | Kept | Kept |
| The picture or video itself | Untouched | Untouched |
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I remove the AI label from a photo?
Add the photo on this page. It shows which AI labels the file carries, such as Content Credentials or an IPTC AI tag. Keep AI labels only selected, press Remove metadata and download the cleaned copy. Camera details, copyright and colors stay as they were.
Will this remove the AI info label on Instagram or Facebook?
Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn read the Content Credentials and IPTC AI tags in a file to add their labels, and this tool removes those tags from the file. It cannot promise what a platform shows: platforms may also look for invisible watermarks or other signals, and their own rules on disclosing AI content still apply.
Why does my real photo say Made with AI?
Editing apps record AI-assisted edits in the file. A single Generative Fill or Generative Remove in Photoshop or Lightroom, an AI eraser on a phone, or an AI upscale can add Content Credentials or an IPTC tag that says the picture contains AI-generated parts, even if almost all of it is your photo. Check the file here to see exactly what was recorded.
What are Content Credentials (C2PA)?
Content Credentials are a signed record, built on the C2PA standard, that apps and some cameras attach to a file. It lists the tool that made or edited the file and the actions taken, such as created with a generative AI model. Adobe, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and several phone and camera makers add them.
What does AI labels only keep?
It removes Content Credentials, the IPTC DigitalSourceType tag, AI prompts and generation settings, and text fields that name an AI tool. It keeps camera and lens details, dates, location, copyright, captions, the color profile and the rotation. Choose All metadata to remove everything that identifies you or your device.
Does removing metadata lower the image quality?
No. Only the metadata sections are removed; the image or video data is copied byte for byte, so nothing is re-compressed. The color profile and the rotation are kept, so photos do not change color or turn sideways.
Can it remove invisible watermarks like SynthID?
No. Invisible watermarks are hidden in the pixels themselves, not in the metadata, and this tool neither detects nor removes them. It only reads and removes the information stored alongside the picture.
Can I use it to check whether an image is AI-generated?
You can see what the file says about itself: which tool made it, whether it records AI generation or AI editing, and any prompt. A file with no AI metadata is not proof that a person made it, because metadata is easy to lose when a picture is screenshotted, re-saved or uploaded.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Your photos and videos are read and cleaned inside your browser and never leave your device.
Is it free, and can I clean many files at once?
Checking files is free. You can add up to 50 files at a time, and each cleaning run counts as one use, with a free daily allowance. Every file can be downloaded on its own; downloading the whole batch as one ZIP is part of a membership.
