About Image Upscaler

This AI image upscaler enlarges photos, artwork and screenshots 2× or 4× and keeps them sharp. Instead of stretching the pixels, the AI redraws edges, lines and textures at the new size and cleans up blur and JPG blocks on the way. Compare before and after, then save as PNG, JPG or WebP. It runs in your browser, so your images are not uploaded.

AI, Smooth or Pixel Art?

MethodWhat it doesUse it for
AI (sharpest)Redraws edges and texture at the new size; removes blur and JPG blocksPhotos, artwork, screenshots, logos
SmoothSpreads the existing pixels evenly; instant; soft edgesWhen you only need a bigger file quickly
Pixel artCopies each pixel into a square blockPixel art, game sprites, small icons

Good to Know

  • Start from the best copy you have. The original file from your phone or camera gives a better result than a screenshot of it or a picture saved from a chat app.
  • Faces and text that are unreadable stay unreadable. The AI sharpens what is there; it does not guess what a blurred face or sign said.
  • 4× makes big files. A 1000 × 1000 image becomes 4000 × 4000. Save as JPG or WebP if the file needs to be small, or compress it afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I upscale an image without losing quality?

Drop the image on the page, keep AI (sharpest) selected, choose 2x or 4x and press Upscale. The AI rebuilds edges and texture at the new size instead of stretching the pixels, so the result stays sharp.

What is the difference between AI and normal enlarging?

Normal enlarging spreads the existing pixels over a bigger area, which makes edges soft. The AI was trained on millions of images and redraws edges, lines and textures at the higher resolution, and it also cleans up blur and JPG blocks.

Should I choose 2x or 4x?

2x suits most photos for printing or a sharper screen. 4x is for small images such as thumbnails, old web photos or icons that need to become much larger. The result can be at most 8192 pixels on a side.

Can it restore a very blurry or tiny photo?

It makes small and slightly blurry pictures clearly sharper. It cannot recover a face or text that is not in the picture at all; very blurry details come out smooth rather than invented.

Does it keep transparent backgrounds?

Yes. Transparent areas of a PNG or WebP stay transparent. Save as PNG or WebP to keep them; JPG has no transparency, so it gets a white background.

Why is it slow on my device?

The AI runs on your own device. Browsers that can use the graphics card, such as up-to-date Chrome, Edge and Safari, take seconds; otherwise the processor does the work and a large photo can take a few minutes. The page shows the time left.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The AI model is downloaded once (about 5 MB) and your images are enlarged on your device. They are never sent to a server.
