The Add Text to Image tool puts words on any photo in a few seconds: captions, memes, quotes, labels, thumbnails or a watermark. Drop in a picture, type, choose a look, drag the text into place and download. It works in your browser, so your photos are not uploaded anywhere.
What You Can Do
- Edit right on the photo: click a text to select it, drag to move it, pull a corner to resize, and use the top handle to rotate. Text snaps to the center lines so it is easy to line up.
- Quick styles: one click gives you a ready-made look such as Meme, Caption box, Highlight, Neon, 3D pop, Subtitle, Elegant, Handwritten, Gold or Watermark. You can tweak any style afterwards.
- 80+ fonts: clean, serif, handwriting, bold display and typewriter fonts, plus Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai fonts. If a font has no letters for your language, the tool tells you and suggests one that does.
- Your own font: upload a .ttf, .otf, .woff or .woff2 file, type the name of any Google Fonts family, or use a font installed on your computer.
- Effects: outline, shadow, glow, background box (or a full-width caption bar), 3D depth, gradient color, hollow letters and see-through text.

How to Add Text to a Photo
- Add your photo: drop it onto the box, paste it with Ctrl+V, or click Choose a photo.
- Type: the text box is ready in the middle of the photo. Press Enter for a new line.
- Choose a look: pick a quick style, or open the Font and Effects tabs.
- Place it: drag the text, resize it with a corner handle, rotate it with the top handle, or use the position buttons in the Arrange tab.
- Download: choose PNG, JPG or WebP and a size, then click Download image. You can also copy the image or share it from your phone.
Tips for Text That Is Easy to Read
- Busy photo? Use the Caption box or Meme style, or turn on Outline. A thin dark outline makes white text readable on almost any background.
- Light text on a bright photo? Add a soft shadow, or use Darken photo in the Arrange tab.
- Long quote? Turn on line wrapping and drag the side handles to set the width.
- Watermark: use the Watermark style or lower the text opacity, then place it in a corner.
- Social media: save a copy at 1080 px on the long side for Instagram and similar apps.
