The Sieve of Eratosthenes

This tool uses the Sieve of Eratosthenes, an ancient and efficient algorithm for finding all primes up to a given limit. The algorithm works by:

  1. Creating a list of integers from 2 to the limit.
  2. Starting with 2 (the first prime), mark all its multiples as composite.
  3. Find the next unmarked number - it is prime.
  4. Mark all multiples of this new prime as composite.
  5. Repeat until you have processed all numbers up to the square root of the limit.
  6. All remaining unmarked numbers are prime.
