About Cut Video

Cut a video right in your browser: trim it down to the part you want, or remove one or more sections from the middle, such as a mistake, a long pause or an ad break, and keep the rest as one video. Mark the parts on a timeline with thumbnails and the sound waveform, watch the result before you export, and download an MP4. Your video is never uploaded.

Two ways to cut

✂️ Keep one part (trim)Drag the yellow handles to the start and end you want. Everything before and after them is dropped.
🧩 Cut out partsMark each part you don't want in red. They are removed and everything else is joined into one smooth video.

How to Cut a Video

  1. Choose your video. Click Choose a video or drop an MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or AVI file onto the page.
  2. Pick a mode. Keep one part to trim the beginning and end, or Cut out parts to remove sections from anywhere in the video.
  3. Mark the parts. Drag the handles on the timeline, or play to the right moment and click Use current time. In Cut out parts, click Cut out a part here for each section to remove.
  4. Check it. Press play with Preview the result ticked: playback jumps over the parts that will be removed.
  5. Export. Click Cut & export video and download the MP4.
Tip for exact cuts: pause close to the spot, then use the frame buttons or the ← and → keys to step one frame at a time. Press I to set the start and O to set the end at the current frame.

Common Use Cases

Trimming phone videos

Drop the shaky start and the moment you fumble for the stop button, and keep just the part worth sharing.

Removing mistakes from a recording

Cut out a stumble, a cough or a false start from a talk, lesson or screen recording without re-recording the whole thing.

Shortening clips for social media

Get a video down to the length a platform allows by trimming it and removing slow moments.

Cutting out ads, intros and dead air

Remove an ad break, a long intro or a silent stretch from a recorded show or meeting and keep the rest in one file.

Pulling a highlight from a long video

Keep one goal, one song or one answer from a long recording as its own short clip.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cut a video online?

Choose your video, then pick Keep one part to trim it, or Cut out parts to remove sections from the middle. Drag the handles on the timeline or type the times, press play to check the result, and click Cut & export video. The new MP4 is ready to download in a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on its length.

What is the difference between trimming and cutting a video?

Trimming removes the beginning, the end, or both, and keeps one continuous part. Cutting removes a section from the middle, such as a mistake or a pause, and joins what was before and after it. This tool does both: Keep one part trims, and Cut out parts removes as many sections as you mark.

How do I remove a part from the middle of a video?

Choose Cut out parts, play or drag to the part you don't want and click Cut out a part here. A red section appears on the timeline; drag its edges, or type the From and To times, until it covers exactly what should go. Add more red sections the same way. Everything that is not red is joined into one video.

Can I check the result before exporting?

Yes. With Preview the result ticked, playback jumps over the red sections, or stops at the end of the part you keep, so you see and hear the edit as it will be. Untick it to watch the whole original.

How precise is the cut?

The cut lands on the exact frame you chose. Times are shown to a hundredth of a second, and the frame buttons and the arrow keys move one frame at a time. Many quick online cutters can only cut at keyframes, which can be a second or more away; this tool re-encodes the video so it can start and end on any frame.

Does cutting a video reduce its quality?

The kept parts are re-encoded at a bitrate close to the original, so the difference is very hard to see. The resolution stays the same. Choose Smaller file if you would rather have a lighter file for sharing.

Is the sound kept in sync?

Yes. The sound is cut at the same instants as the picture, so it stays in sync in every part, including after each removed section.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is cut inside your browser tab and never leaves your device. That is why very long or very large files depend on your device's memory rather than on an upload limit.

Which formats can I cut?

MP4, MOV (including iPhone videos), WebM, MKV, AVI, WMV, FLV, 3GP and MTS. The result is always an MP4 that plays on phones, computers and social media. If your browser cannot play a file, you can still cut it by typing the times.

How long does it take?

In current versions of Chrome, Edge and Safari a few minutes of 1080p video usually takes well under a minute, because only the parts you keep are processed. Older browsers and formats the browser cannot play take longer. The progress bar shows an estimate of the time left.

Can I split a video into several separate files instead?

Yes, use Video Splitter for that: it divides one video into pieces you download one by one. Cut Video is for when you want one video back with the unwanted parts gone.

Does miniwebtool add a watermark?

No. The exported video has no watermark, and no account is needed.
