William Butler Yeats /jeɪts/ fue un poeta y dramaturgo irlandés. Siempre interesado en el misticismo y esoterismo, fue una de las figuras más representativas del renacimiento literario irlandés y uno de los fundadores del Abbey Theatre. Cuando Irlanda finalmente alcanzó su independencia ejerció como senador por dos términos. Fue galardonado con el Premio Nobel de Literatura en el año de 1923.
