Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, conocido como Winston Churchill, fue un político, militar, escritor y estadista británico que se desempeñó como primer ministro del Reino Unido de 1940 a 1945, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y nuevamente de 1951 a 1955 por parte del Partido Conservador. Aunque más conocido por su liderazgo en tiempos de guerra como primer ministro, Churchill también sirvió como soldado tras haber estudiado en Sandhurst, fue un escritor e historiador ganador del Premio Nobel de Literatura, un pintor prolífico y uno de los políticos con más años de servicio en la historia británica. Aparte de dos años, entre 1922 y 1924, fue Miembro del Parlamento (MP) de 1900 a 1964 y representó un total de cinco distritos electorales. Ideológicamente liberal y capitalista desde el punto de vista económico, durante la mayor parte de su carrera militó en el Partido Conservador, que dirigió de 1940 a 1955, aunque también estuvo en el Partido Liberal de 1904 a 1924.
